Product Praise
While preparing the boys for daycare, I remembered that one of the requirements is that every bottle sent has to be labeled with the current date, time it was prepared, contents, and child's name. This procedure was required even back when I worked with infants. What I remember from back then was that the labels would fall apart in the warmer and leave a sticky residue on the bottle. Yuck. So I was on a mission to find a product out there that would fill the bill for bottle labeling without falling apart or ruining my bottles. The product I found and love is Baby Bottle Labels from Coolpacifiers.com. It looks like a personalized silicone bracelet for bottles and sippy cups. It's different from other sites silicone labels because they leave you room on the back of it to write (with a ball point pen) date, time, contents and even allergies! It washes off each time and is dishwasher safe. Since we've purchased them we've received plenty of praise from the boys' caregivers at school. This site also has super cute personalized pacifiers too.
First Day of School...or Daycare.
The boys' first day of school was on August 1st and had a great day. I'll admit I had the "you're doing everything wrong" freak out on their caregivers mainly due to my guilt and anxiety of being away from them. It's all good now. I put myself in check and got over myself.
My mom called me that night to ask how it all went and I was super sad because I now get, maybe, two waking hours with them a weekday. She asked if I took pictures, which I did. Not because I wanted to mark this huge event, but to have a recent photo for the police if they were kidnapped from school. They're super cute. Who wouldn't want to steal them. (My mom laughed at how messed up this was. I'm glad she has a sense of humor.)
They've been in school a while now and seem cool with it. I hope they still feel this way tomorrow, Monday, because they are being moved to the big kid (mobile babies) room. I'm actually excited for this. They'll be in a room were they'll sing more songs, paint, and play outside more. Woo Hoo!!!

I want to give a shout out to mesh fresh food baby feeders. When I registered for this item a lot of people told me how horrible they were and how difficult they were to wash. I do not agree. This product has been a staple at our house lately and a life saver. Let me explain...
Both boys are teething, super cranky, drooling profusely, and chewing on everything. Some things that we have found that work; so far, cold wet washcloths, orajel for day and night, and the mesh fresh food feeders.
(Munchkin Fresh Food Feeder shown)
How the mesh feeders work for us is we slice up bananas and freeze the slices. When we're ready to use the feeders we pop out a frozen banana slice, put it in the feeder, and let the boys chew away.
Here's Brady enjoying his banana slice.
Here's Reese enjoying his banana slice.
Here is a fun and yummy recipe with frozen bananas that is more for big kids and adults.
Frozen Banana Treats
Ingredients:
One Banana
Magic Shell Chocolate Syrup
toppings (Sprinkles, chopped nuts, dried fruit, etc.)
aluminum foil
craft stick (optional)
Directions:
Peel the banana and wrap in aluminum foil. Place in freezer.
Once banana is frozen, immediately cover with Magic Shell Chocolate Syrup and roll into desired topping. (Magic Shell will hardened quickly so these step must be down fast.) Now enjoy!

Funtastic Fourth!
Without going into great detail of our weekend, I'll only highlight the really exciting points. One of them being a visit with my good friend Nicole. For those of you who don't know my friend Nicole, she is a stay at home mom with SIX children, all her own. She has five boys and just recently gave birth to her first girl. Now, I've always had this reputation with her boys as "Mommy's friend that's my girlfriend." The boys love me and have kissing wars over who gave me the most kisses. Not a single one of them has ever given me a hard time or has rejected me. Of course, this didn't prove to be so with her first girl. As Nicole handed her off to me she explains what a good baby she is and that she never cries. She cried or fussed anytime I held her. It has to be a girl thing or a sign...perhaps I should be satisfied with my two boys and not try for a girl.
The rest of the weekend was spent swimming and barbecuing at my brother-in-law and sister-in-law's house. They just put in a very lovely pool/splash area. I honestly don't know how they don't play hooky from work everyday. I had a blast! I think we all did. You can tell in the pictures.

OMG...
Lately I've been slacking in the world of blog. I've had ample time to write, but instead choose to relax. If you had twin infant boys, you'd probably do the same. So what's new here? Well, let's see...Father's Day happened and yet again keeping a gift for Brad a secret is near impossible. When a holiday with gifts gets close he searches the bank activity everyday and boxes that come in the mail for clues. He always knows what's coming and it drives me CRAZY. I was determined to avail this time by being sneaky and getting something for him from Shutterfly since I shop there all the time lately. Needless to say, it didn't work. He's a nosey snoop and I'll just have to live with it. For all of you who are curious on what the boys and I made at Shutterfly for Brad, we made a Photobook with pictures of the boys and daddy. The book was titled, "My Daddy's First Father's Day," love Reese and Brady. It was so cute and Brad was complaining how he didn't have any pictures of the boys at work, so now he does. I thought about making him a tie with a picture of the boys and I on it, but I reserve that corniness for my own father. Which, by the way, he wears proudly. He wore the tie with little Adrienne heads all over it to many of my pageants, both graduations, and my rehearsal dinner.
On a different note I'd like to address the need to get out of dodge, aka my hood, more often. This could be better stated...
Five Signs Adrienne Needs to Go Back to Work.
1) I was designing a sticker to stick on all the cars in my neighborhood who very rudely park their cars, blocking the sidewalk.
2) I created my own daytime soap opera based on the comings and goings of a very married neighbor and a very single neighbor who spend entirely too much time together at weird times of day at the single neighbor's house. Bum Bum Buuuuum.(Do I sound much like Cam on Modern Family)
3) I made a weekly lesson plan for my children and scheduled out their ENTIRE DAY.
4) I made a pie chart on my kids daily in put and out put.
5) I've been having weekly hour long chats with my local Jehovah's Witness door to door lady. I'm sure she's convinced that she has a converter on her hands, but I'm just desperate for adult conversation.
I'm sure there's more crazy I could mention, but I'll leave that for another day.

My first NIGHTS away from my babies...
This past weekend my younger sister, Sarah, was married to Gabriel. Like most weddings there was a rehearsal and the wedding. Two days of celebration and organized chaos. AND...two nights away from my cute adorable babies. They spent the weekend with G-ma and Papa B. Let's just say I'm happy my night as a glow worm is over and that I'm back with my kiddos. Weddings are stressful, even when they're not your own.
Where should I start? Well I should first state that I was without a motor vehicle. I had to rely on my parents for transportation. My dad forgot this little fact and left me at the hotel the morning of the wedding. We were supposed to be at the church for pictures at noon. It was 1:30 before anyone noticed I was missing. My gown still didn't fit well, so during the ceremony, right before the vows I had to walk up stairs to the couple carrying the brides bouquet and my own. What do I do? I step on my dress. I tore a huge whole in the dress and yanked it down in front of everyone with NO hands to catch the dress and pull it back up. Thank goodness Sarah had a huge bouquet, because it covered the things that needed to be covered until I got back to my seat. Right about now you're probably thinking, wow, what a crappy day...let me stop you there because it gets better. After the ceremony, but before the reception, the bridal party crammed into a limo and drove around town getting pictures taken. At this point I was feeling really yucky. My blood sugar was dropping really fast, which was weird because I ate a two cut up apples with caramel sauce and a Turkey Tom sandwich from Jimmy Johns prior to the ceremony. By the time we finally reached the reception location I was shaking really bad and felt like I was going to be very ill, hopefully not in the direction of the bride, at any moment. My dad thought I was drunk, probably because everyone else in the limo was, but I digress. We get inside and sit down on a platform for everyone to see. My mom and a bunch of other people rush over to see if they could help me out. What do I do? Well it wasn't pretty and I did manage to do it in the opposite direction from my sister the bride. However, everyone saw it and everyone I'm sure thought I was drunk also. I wasn't, just needed to eat. My Matron of Honor speech was terribly short. I hadn't anticipated this happening to me. I could barely stand up I was shaking so bad. I'm not even sure if my shortened speech made sense. I just wanted the food to come out asap. After I finally ate, I was perfect, like nothing happened at all. It was SO weird. I'd really like to say that was the end of my crazy day, but just when things couldn't get anymore interesting, a groomsman's wife (who was beyond drunk)gave me a striptease and TWO lap dances. The highlight of my night. I was very flattered. I was waiting for her to start making out with me because she kept telling me how much she loved me and how beautiful I am. (Did I mention I just met her.)After that my night was pretty boring. Here's a picture from the festivities...

Product of the Week
My tornado twins, who lately can be mistaken for pterodactyls, have been teething. To help them along this journey and prepare them for brushing their teeth I found Baby Orajel's Tooth & Gum Cleanser and brush. The brush fits right on your finger. It even fits on my husbands big fat fingers. (If anyone tells him I said that about his fingers, I'll deny it. lol) The boys LOVE it. We use it twice a day. We use it when we get dressed in the morning and at the end of bath time at night. I sing this song to them every time we use it.
The am version...
It's six in the morning
I'm out of bed
I ate my breakfast
then my momma said
to brush my teeth.

Because I'm so behind in blogging this post will be full of pictures!
Some five month old pictures I took of the boys! Here's Brady...
Here's Reese...
When you're the best of friends!!
Last week we had cranky picture day. I know I'm probably weird but these are actually my favorite kinds of baby pictures. I think they're so funny. Of course I wasn't being a complete terrible mom. Their needs had been met, the boys were just cranky.
Memorial Weekend!! It was hot.
This is Goose...
This is Maverick...
This is Goose and Maverick with Icemomma...
Nana, Grandma N. and Aunt Sarah came to visit this weekend too. Here's a picture of Nana and her boys...
Aunt Sarah and Brady...
My mom, Grandma N, is holding Reese and giving him a lick of a Blow Pop sucker.
After trying the sucker...
Overall, had a great weekend!

Finally Some Nursery Pics!!!
I took some pictures of the boys months ago and had them made into 11" by 14" pictures. Reese and Brady are now five months old and finally have a somewhat finished nursery. Before I post some pictures let me fill you in with the story behind the nursery theme. Brad and I decided that we did not want to find out if we were having boys, girls, or one of each. With that said, the nursery needed to be gender neutral. You would not believe how hard this would prove to be. Most infant bedding is very gender specific and if there was a gender neutral one it was incredibly hideous or yellow. I don't have anything against yellow, but it's not a color for a bedroom. Yellow in a bedroom or nursery instills anxiety...don't believe me, look it up.
I searched all over the Internet for inspiration and believe it or not I found what I wanted on Pottery Barn Teen or PB Teen. They had all these modern rooms with polka dots. I really liked the brown and white polka dots. Brown can be paired up with just about any color combination; there's blue and brown, Pink and brown, green and brown, purple and brown...etc. We chose to do a blue/green (to be exact Tiffany Blue, I took the box into the paint store and had it custom made) and brown. I surprisingly found brown and white polka dot crib linens at Target and the rest just fell into place.
Here are the pictures that I had blown up. Reese is on the left and Brady is on the right.
This is Reese's side of the room. I'm thinking of putting an IPod docking station where the radio is eventuallt an possibly a hanging bookshelf above the dresser. we'll see.
Here is Brady's side of the room.
The rocking chair and changing station. It's a little cluttered, but oh well.
Here's the famous screen door. We put this in instead of purchasing expensive crib tents to prevent the cats from joining the kids in their cribs. It's worked out perfectly. It was a $15 purchase.

Product of the Week
I know I'm a little behind on my posts but it's been a little crazy here with the tornado twins! BUT I digress...
As anyone knows, babies are expensive. Having two babies is even more expensive, so with a little hesitation I agreed to switch from the boys regular (everything is honky dory) formula to store brand. It was half the price and and the label said it had all the same great things in it and very clearly said it was comparable to what we already use. Well, as you can probably guess (due to lack of naming this formula), this is not the product of the week. This formula gave my sons terrible diarrhea and an even worse diaper rash. Super annoyed!! Did we change the formula? Well not right away. My hubby, god love him, insisted that it wasn't the formula and they just caught a bug. So we tried waiting it out. It just got worse. We are now back to our regular Soy formula and the diarrhea stopped, but the diaper rash stayed. We were already applying cream prior to the rash at every diaper change, so I invested in the maximum strength stuff to take a more aggressive approach. Bath time, which is normally all fun and smiles, was now tears and frustration due to the sore bottoms.
Now with all this said, are you ready for my shout out for product of the week???
It's Aveeno Baby Soothing Bath Treatment!
It comes with six packets that look just like instant oatmeal packets. I poured one packet into their bath water (no need for soap in addition to packet)and abracadabra...I saw instant results in healing their terrible diaper rashes. Plus its soothing, hence the title, so there weren't anymore tears. It only took two bath treatments in addition to continuing to apply maximum strength diaper cream, before their rashes were completely gone. I highly recommend this product. Even if your little one is rash free, you should have it in your bathroom just in case. It's also good for insect bites, poison ivy/oak/sumac, and chicken pox. The other great thing about this product is it was less than five dollars. If this product is not already on your grocery list you are CRAZY.

Easter Weekend!!
The weekend started with the boys getting a box in the mail from Grandma N. It had some fun Easter clothes and toys. The boys loved their barnyard animal toys. We added them to our bath time routine where we sang "Old MacDonald Had a Farm". I also taught the boys a new song called "It's Easter and I Feel Good." It goes like this...
I'm gonna clap my hands (clap, clap, clap)
I'm gonna clap my hands (clap, clap, clap)
I'm gonna clap my hands like I know I should
cause it's Easter and I feel good.
Oh............
I'm gonna stomp my feet (stomp, stomp, stomp)
I'm gonna stomp my feet (stomp, stomp, stomp)
I'm gonna stomp my feet like I know I should
cause it's Easter and I feel good.
Oh............
I'm gonna click my tongue (click, click, click)
I'm gonna click my tongue (click, click, click)
I'm gonna click my tongue like I know I should
cause it's Easter and I feel good.
Oh............
I'm gonna wiggle my hips (woo, woo, woo)
I'm gonna wiggle my hips (woo, woo, woo)
I'm gonna wiggle my hips like I know I should
cause it's Easter and I feel good.
Oh............
I'm gonna sing my song (laa, laa, laa)
I'm gonna sing REAL LOUD (laa, laa, laa)
I'm gonna sing my song like I know I should
cause it's Easter and I feel GOOD!
The boys really got into this song. Lots of big grins and hearty laughs. On Easter morning the boys found their Easter baskets. The baskets had Easter eggs with socks in them, baby sunglasses, their Easter church going outfit, an Easter book, and lots of candy. The candy was really more for mom and dad. After baskets were gone through we all got dressed and headed to church.
One of the parishoners told a story about when he was a boy and riding in the truck with his grandpa. A bee flew into the truck and wouldn't leave him alone. His grandpa told him to calm down and when the bee figured out he didn't have anything the bee wanted it would fly away. The bee didn't leave, so the grandpa caught the bee in his hand and the bee stung the grandpa. The grandpa showed the bee stinger in his hand and assured him that it wouldn't harm him no longer.
Not too long after that grandpa was on his death bed and the boy asked his grandpa if he was scared to die. The grandpa showed him the stinger still in his hand and said, "Do you remember this?"
The boy said, "Yes you caught the bee and took the sting so the bee wouldn't hurt me."
The grandpa said, "That's what Jesus did for us. He took the pain so we wouldn't have to, so no I'm not afraid."
When I heard this story, I'm not ashamed to admit, I cried. What a great story to explain the meaning of Easter and exactly what Jesus' intentions were. The best part is leaving church feeling like I've gained something from the service and that I had a great time. I know the boys did because they were all smiles the whole time. Later in the evening, right before bed, I asked my husband Brad what his favorite part of the day was. He told me it was church and I felt the same way.

Product of the Week
Here's Brady wearing our turtle "In the Tub" towel.
Here's Reese wearing the "In the Tub" towel.
This week's product is for the bathtub. I actually stumbled onto it by accident. That is, if an accident involves wandering into Target and a magnetic force taking over your body and drawing you over to the baby gear. I needed nothing but if you know anything about me you'd know that it's really hard for me to not leave a store without a purchased item. I've gotten better though...I swear. Anyway, out of the corner of my eye I saw this cute little turtle washcloth. Little did I know when I got it home it was so much more.
It is an "In the Tub" towel. How it works is you stick it into the warm water and get it wet. Once your baby is in the tub, slide the "In the Tub" towel over your baby. What this towel does is it keeps baby warm while your cleaning your baby, and for mommas of little boys, it keeps you from getting peed on. My kids LOVE it. They scream if they don't have it and as soon as I slip that turtle on, they're happy babies. It makes for super cute photos too! Ours is made by Circo, which I believe is a Target brand.

Dance, Dance Ants in my....Kitchen?!?!?!
After a lovely weekend of nothing, I wake up early Monday morning to discover ants had taken over my kitchen. I'm not talking about a few ants. I'm talking about a COLONY of ants. To give you a better visual of this, imagine walking down the street and you see a crack in the sidewalk with a giant moving black spot (the millions of ants),this is what my window ledge above my sink looked like. They were in many other places as well. I discovered them in the kiddos' rice cereal as I was making their lunch. That box couldn't find it's way into the trash can fast enough. Most of the ants were sucked up in the vacuum and taken immediately out to the dumpster. When Brad got home I left for the grocery store, mainly because I hadn't been in weeks, but also to purchase ant traps. Meijer must have known that I needed these bad because there was a display of ant traps in the center aisle, on the end of four aisles, and by the cash register. For the most part, the ants in my kitchen have been evicted, but I have a feeling this is only the beginning.

Product of the Week
I actually have two products this week I'd like to share. One is an application for the Iphone. It's called Baby Monitor & Alarm 2.0 by TappyTaps. This application turns your cellphone into a baby monitor and/or radio for when you travel and don't pack your own. How it works is I had to leave my phone in the room with the boys and when they woke up it would call my husband's cell (the number I programmed it to call). Some other features it has is I can choose to have my phone play a recording of my voice before calling the hubby's phone. It can be anything from, "Go back to bed you rotten kids"(I had to say it) or a lullaby. Mine has me singing "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes." Another feature is to program it to play a song from my Ipod song list before calling the hubby's phone. It can also play music to put your kids down at night too. It has different settings too as far as how long you want it to wait before calling you and noise sensor levels. All in all, it's pretty cool.
The second product this week isn't baby related. It is a kitchen product. It's the OXO Corn Stripper. I make this amazing corn salad that use to make me nervous to make. I was always afraid to cut the corn off the cob with a knife because I was afraid to loose a finger in the process. I don't worry about this anymore. The corn stripper is safe and easy to use. Here's my recipe if you'd like to try it out...
10 ears of unhusked sweet corn
extra virgin olive oil
salt and pepper
one cup of sliced cherry tomatoes
one cup of feta cheese
Italian dressing
Warm up grill. While grill is heating up coat corn with EVOO and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Once grill is ready, cook corn and slightly char the edges. remove corn and let cool. Once cooled, use OXO Corn Stripper and remove all kernnels from the ear. When finished, you should have a bowl full of stripped grilled corn. Mix tomatoes and feta with corn. Drizzle with italian dressing (just enough to wet the salad. Now enjoy!
Milestones.
This week has been a crazy week at our house. For starters, I've been super sick. It started as a stomach bug then into one wicked migraine that lasted for two days. My husband stayed home from work one day because I was completely unable to function. I was thankful to him, but nervous that he had. Right now there's talk of laying off government workers and my husband's one of them. I can't help worrying about what's going to happen to us if he's not working also. The number one thing is how will bills get paid...we have two small babies! It's a scary thought. It's funny to think about all the silly things one worries about prior to facing this uncertainty. It was brought to my attention this week that I always try to please others and I can't do it anymore. I have my own family now to think about and times are hard.
On a less gloomy note, Brad and I decided to start the boys on cereal. I had visions of crying and cereal being spit across the room, but none of that happened. Reese went first. The only complaints he had was that I wasn't shoveling the food in his mouth fast enough. Brady was a pro at eating cereal. It was as if he'd been eating cereal his whole life. Brad and I even got smiles from the boys during the experience. As an added bonus, Brady who was still waking up twice a night up to this point, was now sleeping through the entire night.
Here's a picture of Brady sharing his enjoyment.

Exhausted!!
This past weekend I had to make another long trip to Michigan. My Aunt Sally, my father's sister, died and her funeral was this past Friday. Brad had to work so this trip was just me and the boys. I didn't think much of this, traveling alone with twin babies, but apparently it made a lot of my relatives question my sanity. One of my Uncles kept coming up with "what if this happened" senarios, as if the only thing that was going to save me was a man. I love my husband and I'm sure he'd appreciate it if I relied on him for knight on a white horse sort of stuff, but I was a girl scout, took wilderness survival classes in college, and had a fully charged cell phone handy. So there.
Aunt Sally's service was nice, as far as funerals go. Saw a lot of people that I don't see very often. I heard a lot of stories about her. I'm going to miss her a lot. It's still surreal though. I can still hear her laugh and her voice.
Some other things the boys and I did this weekend were we stayed at Nana's house, my mother's mom. My Uncle George and Aunt Rita came out to visit. Reese peed on my Aunt Rita. He's really good at peeing on people. That kid pees more than any kid I've ever met. Some of my cousins stopped by too. My cousin Gaelen's girlfriend, Becca, is a natural with babies. I wish she lived closer. She can babysit anytime. The boys were flirting hardcore with her too. So funny!
One of the other things I like about going to visit in Michigan without my hubby is my mom feels more comfortable with spoiling me, with food that is. I think all moms do this. Even if one eats well at home, moms always feel like you could eat more. So I ate a lot and I finally got my favorite International Dog House Swiss Dog. YUM!!!
The ride home was stormy and long, but we made it. Brad and Bo got really comfy while we were gone, but they were happy to see us back at home. That is until Bo realized he couldn't sleep on my side of the bed anymore. He didn't like that too much, but he got over it quick.

Product of the Week
I've decided to let other mommas out there know about products that I've fell in love with. This weeks product is....Huggies Wipes with Shea Butter! Why do I love them so? Well, they smell so good to begin with. I could be changing the stinkiest of diapers and the sweet scent of the wipes makes me forget the gagging stench, AND I kind of feel like I'm on vacation for a split second. Crazy I know, but it's the little things these days that get me by. The wipes are also very soft and efficient. When using these wipes, I only had to use one or two wipes for the messiest of diapers instead of several when using other brands. I hope you get the chance to try these out!

The Big Trip!
This past weekend was our first big trip to Michigan with the boys. I had all their clothes packed two days prior to the trip and I even remembered to restock the diaper bag. I only packed the essentials. I didn't want to be the mom who packed the entire house. We left early Friday morning. Brad had packed the van and there was PLENTY of room for the dog. This should have been an indication that we were forgetting something, but we were both focused on getting on the road.
The boys both did very well. They both slept the majority of the time. That's how we planned it...wink, wink. When we got to the in-law's house my husband asks me if the only diapers I packed were the ones I restocked the diaper bag with. This is when it dawned on me why there was so much room in the van. We have fourteen week twin boys and I forget to pack diapers for the weekend. Smart mommy! Real smart.
Saturday we had a small get together with all the people who hadn't met the boys yet. A LOT of people showed up. It was a great time seeing people we hadn't seen in months. Our kids are blessed to have so many people who love them.
Later that night my friend Anne and I celebrated our (cough) 30th birthday at the Wine Loft in downtown Kalamazoo. We filled up the entire loft area with our friends. Drank some bubbly and ate some very expensive chocolate covered strawberries. So much fun! It made me really miss my friends. I hope that we are able to someday move back to Michigan, but that looks like it's not happening anytime soon.
The next day, Sunday, was our day to travel back home. We had a slow start. Some of us had a little too much fun the night before and needed to take a nap. So while that happened my friend Nicole stopped by for a quick visit. The boys were super cranky that whole time. They have some major kissing up to do, because Nicole's house is the fun house. She's preggers with her SIXTH child. Her house is the IT house for kids.
The ride back home wasn't as smooth as when we left. We needed to stop and refresh the kiddos, but that still didn't make one kid very pleased. It was a moderately noisy ride home. We made it though!

I'm giving it a try...
So many of my friends have blogs and I love reading them, and everyone asks why I don't have one for myself. I always reply with, I have before but I always sound bitter and whiny and who wants to read that.
My life has changed though. I actually have a lot to be proud of and a lot to show off. I'm gonna try this blogging thing again, especially since most of my family lives in other states. This will give them a chance to see what's new with my immediate family. Just promise you wont judge my spelling or grammar. I teach preschool not language arts. Thanks!
